In Memory Of...
Lawrence Michizu Nakamura
June 25, 1922 - July 31, 2013
It is with great sadness today that I announce the passing of my longtime Iaido and Kendo teacher, Sensei Lawrence Nakamura. I first met Sensei in 1978 while studying Kendo under him. Sensei later asked if I would like to study Iaido as well and so I did. He was a kind yet strict teacher, and went out of his way to make sure you understood what you were doing. He always told me, "Your word is your bond" and he lived up to that. Rain or snow or storm, he always showed up to class and was there for you. That's all he expected from the rest of us. I will miss you Sensei, you have giving me so much. Thank you.
Visiting hours will be held at the Turner & Porter Funeral Home, 4933 Dundas St. W (Dundas & Burnhamthorpe): Sunday August 4th from 2pm - 5pm and Monday August 5th 6pm-9pm. The service will be held at St Philips Anglican Church, 31 St. Phillips Rd., Etobicoke, ON M9P 2N7, Tuesday August 6th at 10am.
